GHS sophomores slip by Geneseo |

sophomore baseball team to a 5-4 victory at Geneseo, Monday.
With the win, the Streak sophs improved their season record
to 13-14. They will travel to Canton, Tuesday, in hope of
reaching the .500 mark. Geneseo took a 2-0
lead in the first inning off Streak starting pitcher Nate
Olin, but he settled down, allowing only two more runs the
rest of the way. With the GHS down 4-3 going into the top of
the seventh, a two-out balk put our runners on second and
third for pinch-hitter Schwab. His single brought in both
the tying and eventual winning runs. There were some anxious
moments in the bottom of the seventh as Jake Taylor came on
in relief to try to close out the game for the Streaks.
Unfortunately, he gave up a leadoff double, a single and a
walk to load the bases with no outs. Taylor then struck out
the next batter, got the fifth batter of the inning pop out
to second base and then, on a full count, struck out the
last batter looking to seal the victory and earn the save.
Andrew Steck and Bo Merrit had two hits to lead the Streaks'
offense. |
