Errors sink freshmen against Moline
4/9 - It had been nearly two weeks since the GHS freshmen baseball team had played a game and it showed Monday as they committed six fielding errors en route to a 12-2 loss to Moline.
With the defeat, the young Streaks fell to 1-2 on the season. If the weather cooperates, the freshmen will host Dunlap on Tuesday.
Moline turned in a solid effort. They managed a modest six hits, but committed just one error in the contest. The big inning for the young Maroons came in the top of the second when they plated five runs. They went on to add a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth frames and three more in the sixth to get to the 10-run margin. Nick Krantz and Caleb Spiegel both had doubles for the winners.

Streak freshmen win home opener

Victor Davis and Mark Zhorne looked strong on the mound, limiting the visiting Raiders to only
three hits. The duo also combined for 12 strikeouts.
Offensively, the young Streaks got their runs in bunches - big bunches. GHS' boys scored five runs in the second inning and added six more in the fifth. The Streaks had seven hits in the contest, but took advantage of 10 walks surrendered by East Peoria's hurlers.
Nate Olin led off the GHS second with a single and in the inning the home team would get four more hits, including a double by B.J. Buzick. finish things off. He allowed only one hit and struck out five. East Peoria went down in order in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Freshmen fall to Rocky in opener
3/26 - (ROCK ISLAND) The season opener was delayed a week, but Monday the GHS freshmen got their opportunity to kick off the 2007 season. The young Streaks were competitive, but
dropped a road test at Rock Island 7-5.
GHS' boys jumped out to a promising start, scoring a run in the top of the first and two more in their side of the second for a 3-0 lead. Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived as Rocky countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second and third innings to take a 4-3 lead. From that point on, the Streaks were forced to play catch-up.
A three-run fourth extended the Rocks' advantage to 7-3. Solo runs for GHS' boys in the fifth and sixth innings brought them back, but not far enough.
Jake Taylor, who pitched two innings and allowed four runs, was saddled with the loss. Nate Olin toss a scoreless first inning and Trevor Roberts finished the final three innings, allowing three runs.
The Streaks held their own at the plate, matching the Rocks with nine hits. Mark Zhorne was the leader for GHS getting two hits and scoring two runs. Jake Henderson, Steven Joseph, Roberts, Jared Scott,

Taylor, Zach Dixon and B.J. Buzick each had a baserap. Perhaps the offensive "killer" for the Streaks was the strikeout. The GHS boys went down on strikes 10 times in the contest.
Weather-permitting, the GHS freshmen (0-1) will play their first game at home Tuesday against East Peoria.
