4/28 - (PEORIA) The "prime time" start of Friday's game at Peoria Richwoods did not bother the GHS freshmen in the least as they rolled to a 13-2 victory in five innings.
Despite the 7 p.m. starting time, the young Streaks had no trouble getting home at a decent hour thanks to a strong effort. Brian Gernant pitched well for GHS and Jordan Sadiq brought his big bat.

Austin Shearer enjoyed the offensive support as he pitched six strong innings for the victory. He allowed just two unearned runs on two hits. Jake Milligan tossed a scoreless seventh.
In the GHS first inning, Milligan got it all started when his shot to center field was dropped. Ben LaFollette followed with a single and Jordan Sadiq smacked a double. Michael Milan's fly to right was also misplayed and Shearer made that hurt the Commandoes with a single. Three more Abingdon errors followed and when the dust cleared the Streaks had a 6-0 advantage.

United Township picked up their lone run in the top of the second on a single and two Streak fielding errors.
As much of a blow-out as the first game was, the second game was the complete opposite. GHS' boys scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead and then held off U.T. for the one-run victory.
U.T. scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take the initial lead, before the Streaks answered with a pair in their side of the inning. Ben LaFollette reached on an error and eventually scored on Sadiq's ground out RBI. Shey Sibley singled and scored  on a basehit by Shearer.

Weather cancels more freshmen & sophomore games
4/3 - It seems like the little guys can't get a break. GHS' freshmen and sophomore baseball schedule took another hit from Mother Nature this week.
Monday's freshmen baseball doubleheader with Kewanee had to be cancelled due to wet grounds and will not be made up. Due to a numbers crunch with the Kewanee baseball program and other games the Boilers had to makeup, it was decided to drop the doubleheader.
Tuesday's home sophomore baseball game with Dunlap was also indirectly cancelled by the weather. Dunlap will opt out of the date to make-up a conference game. The teams are scheduled to play again next Tuesday at Dunlap.
Streak freshmen beat Rockridge 8-4

Freshmen down East Peoria 10-6 in opener
3/28 - (EAST PEORIA) After waiting for the weather to allow, GHS' freshmen baseball team got their season rolling, Tuesday, with a 10-6 victory at East Peoria.
It took a while for the young Streaks to get started, but five-run fifth inning put them in front to stay. East Peoria had scored solo runs in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead heading into the fourth. A Brian Gernant double to lead off the fourth seemed to provide the spark and the Streaks responded to plate a pair, cutting the deficit to 3-2. In the fifth, GHS took the lead with a five-run, two-out rally. Three walks and RBI hits by Ben LaFollette and Jake Milligan drove fueled the rally.
East Peoria managed one run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 7-4, but GHS outscored the Raiders 3-2 in the final two innings for the win. Milligan picked up the pitching victory for the Streaks. Gernant did a solid job on the hill through the first three innings, facing 15 batters and striking out two. Milligan took the hill prior to the Streak uprising. East Peoria was limited to only two hits.
Gernant had three hits to pace the GHS attack. LaFollette added two and Milligan, Blake Carr and Jordan Sidiq, one apiece.
Friday, weather-permitting, the Streak freshmen will travel to Rockridge.
